About Brent

Brent Mekosh

Brent is a seasoned financial advisor with a deep-seated passion for understanding the core values of his clients and guiding them to achieve more than they could have ever imagined.

Since making his first stock investment at age 12, Brent has dedicated his life to the intricacies of financial planning and wealth management.

After earning a B.S. in Finance from the University of Colorado at Boulder, Brent joined the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in New York City, where he quickly advanced to become Vice President of trading at a predecessor firm of Bear Wagner Specialists.

He further honed his expertise while earning an MBA in Finance and International Business from New York University.

In 2006, Brent left the high stakes of Wall Street for a year-long backpacking adventure across Africa, India, Australia, Southeast Asia, and North America.

This transformative journey broadened his perspectives on life and deepened his understanding of diverse cultures and economic systems.

On returning, he settled in Arizona and joined Raymond James in 2007, dedicating himself to building a practice that focuses on the financial well-being of his clients.

In 2024, he co-founded The Wealth Stewards with long-time friend Jeff Breese, focusing on high net worth individuals, particularly business owners planning for transitions.

Brent is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional, Certified Exit Planning Advisor®, and Certified Investment Management Analyst®. He holds several financial licenses and is deeply committed to his community through his membership in Valley Estate Planners and participation in Scottsdale Leadership, Class XXIV.

Aside from his financial career, Brent is an author and the voice behind the podcast “Smart Money. Simplified.,” where he shares insights on finance and life’s broader questions.

His book, “In the Shadow of a Dark Star – Godwinks and the Search for a Golden Thread,” explores the power of personal empathy through his life experiences.

Residing in Phoenix with his wife Paige and their children Nicholas and Arden, Brent also enjoys trail running, camping, playing the guitar (admittedly badly), and indulging in his love for history.
